Native Men’s Residence

Scope: Phased Construction, Interior Renovations & Working within Occupied Spaces

Value: $1.7 million

Architect: Hilditch Architect

Description:
This project involved the conversion of an existing Men’s Shelter into new self-contained residential units for Native Men in Toronto. Extensive life safety upgrades were required to satisfy new code requirements resultant of the conversion.  Further to the residential component, additional office space, meeting rooms, and programming space, was created to augment the clients’ service capacities.   Dasd has worked with Na Me Res to renovate and upgrade this property three times in the past seven years; once in 2002 which included the addition of an elevator, again in 2004, and most recently this conversion in 2009.
